Member Volunteer Opportunities

The USWCA would be nothing without our members who are regular, league-playing members of one of our USWCA clubs. Beside participating in our events, our members also volunteer in a myriad of different ways to keep the organization running smoothly. You do not need to be your club's Representative to get involved. The positions a member may hold, besides being her club's Representative, are as a member of any of twenty-two Standing Committees, a Committee Chair, a Representatives' Liaisons, or an Officer. These members meet twice a year in the region of the current President, in person and sometimes virtually, to discuss the business of the organization.

Each member club has one Representative (Rep) and that Rep serves as a voting member of the USWCA Board of Directors. The Reps are also essential in communicating opportunities presented by the USWCA to their club members.  A list of the Responsibilities of a Representative help them manage their position. With over 80 member clubs, Reps are always rotating in and out of the organization.

The Representatives' Liaisons are there to help with transitions, answer questions, and offer advice. There is at least one Liaison for each of the four Regions plus one for Arena clubs. The Liaison is responsible for disseminating USWCA information to the club Representatives in her region including reminders about event and dues deadlines as well as answering questions about the organization, especially for new clubs and new Representatives.

The Reps make up the bulk of our committee members.  But again, you do not need to be your club's Representative to get involved. There are over 20 committees serving the USWCA, everything from Finance to Bonspiel Events, Governance to Merchandise.  With all these options, any member can find a committee to match their interests.  And each committee needs a Chair.  A Handbook for Committee Chairs has been created to help the chairs understand the scope of their task.

There are five Officers that keep the organization running smoothly.  And of course, they can always look to the experienced Past Presidents for advice and suggestions.

The mission of the USWCA is to develop, nurture, and promote the sport of curling among today's women and all youth.  It takes many people to make this happen.  Thank you to all our members who step up to volunteer.
