USWCAUSWCA 74th National Bonspiel

The competitors of the 2023 USWCA National Bonspiel were comprised of 32 teams from around the country and met at the Bowling Green Curling Club in Bowling Green, Ohio.

The host hotel was the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Toledo South - Perrysburg.  To receive the bonspiel rate, reservations had to be made by January 22, 2023.

Opening Ceremonies took place on Wednesday, February 15 at 5:30 pm. Teams curling on Wednesday at 6:00 pm needed to arrive at the club by 5:15 pm. Team photos were taken from 6:00 - 9:30 pm but teams were encouraged to come earlier for the Opening Ceremonies.

Thursday curling began at 7:00 am. The Social Soiree was held at Te'kela across the street from the Holiday Inn Express & Suites. Appetizers were out from 6:30 - 7:30 pm with the dinner buffet going from 7:30 - 9:30 pm.

Friday evening's dinner was at Glass City Metropark in Toledo, Ohio provided by Tony Packo's. Invitations were given out after the 1 and 4 pm draws on Thursday and after the 8 and 11 am Friday. The invitation included the time teams were expected to arrive for dinner. Teams could explore the metropark and its skating ribbon before or after eating.

USWCA

The finals began at 2:15 pm Sunday, February 19, 2023 and those playing in the finals were piped onto the ice.

Participation Information- New Procedures for Applying

To be considered to participate, an application form must be completed online. Information needed to complete the form includes the entry type (single, club team, or composite team), your region, and the club name. For each team member, include their name, home address, email address, phone number, their position, any food allergies, and whether or not this person has attended the National Bonspiel before. If the team is a club team, provide the Club Rep's name and email address. If the team is a composite team, provide the Club name and Club Rep's information for each team member. Indicate which team member will be the contact person. Also, is the team is willing to be placed on the waiting list if the team is not selected and for how long? If the team does not stay on the waiting list are any individuals willing to be substitutes?

Using the link to the application form (above), complete the form online. When the form is complete, click "Submit" and electronically submit the form to your club Rep. It is important to note that by submitting the form, you agree that you are over 21 and are a full dues-paying, league-playing members or your primary curling club and if your team is selected, you will pay the $500 entry fee before December 17, 2022.

Note: No payment is due at this time. Single entries do not owe an entry fee until they are assigned to a team.

The Treasurer will send an invoice to the team contact person,  along with a reminder to pay club dues. Payment will be made online using a bank account or a credit card. Important: Teams that do not pay the entry fee by the December 17, 2022 deadline will forfeit their spot and the Procedure Chair will move the team to the waitlist.

Fund Raiser

To help defray costs of hosting the bonspiel, the Bowling Green Curling Club held a drawing for a week at a Beach Condo in Panama City. Congratulations to the lucky winner Carol Stevenson pictured below, right, with 1st Vice President Kelly Stephens.
